This course will provide firefighters with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to conduct fire and life safety inspections in Ohio. Upon completion, students will have the training necessary to perform duties required of a Fire Safety Inspector including code interpretation, applying local fire and life safety codes to complex situations, building egress requirements, building fire protection system requirements and evaluating code compliance for the storage, use and handling of various hazardous materials. This course meets the minimum requirements set forth in NFPA 1031- Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Inspector and Plan Examiner. Upon completion, students will be eligible to sit for the state examination to be certified as an Ohio Fire Safety Inspector.
